Sometimes you’re in need of a little pampering, but a trip to the spa just isn’t in the cards. Don’t worry. These three do-it-yourself (DIY) beauty tips are just the thing.
Make Friends With Your Blender
While you might think your blender is meant for summer smoothies, it’s also an incredible asset during the winter. As the weather begins to turn, it’s not uncommon for your skin to start feeling a bit rough and chafed. Dust off your blender and toss in some Greek yogurt, honey, aloe vera gel, and avocado. Spread the mask on your face and allow it to dry for 15 to 20 minutes. Then wash it off. You’ll be amazed at how smooth and refreshed your skin feels.
Use Coconut Oil to Deep-Condition
Life is hard on your hair. It can easily become dry and brittle, which leads to split ends and endless fly-aways. Show your hair a little TLC by deep conditioning it. Starting at your ends, gently massage a tablespoon of coconut oil into your hair. Wrap your hair in a towel and let it sit for at least an hour. Then wash your hair as you normally would.
Make a DIY Sauna
No, we’re not suggesting you actually build your own sauna. But, with a little prep time you can enjoy all the steamy goodness of a sauna at home. Simply turn your shower onto its hottest setting and let it run for 15 – 20 minutes. You’ll want to leave the fan off and the doors closed in the bathroom. While your shower is building up steam, run a washcloth under warm water and spray it with your favorite relaxing oil. We’re partial to lavender. Rosemary, vanilla, and eucalyptus are also great options. Once enough steam has built up, turn your water off and step into your “sauna”.
