An instant increase in square footage is something a fairy godmother could provide. Unfortunately, we don’t live in a fairytale. However, just because you don’t have a lot of floor space, doesn’t mean your bathroom has to be cluttered. Use these tips to keep your bath organized.
1. Go Vertical
When you can’t store out, look for opportunities to store up. Floating shelves offer a great way to increase storage without making your space feel cramped. Tiered hanging baskets are another good option, as they can be suspended from the ceiling.
2. Get Magnetic
Magnets can be your best friend in the bathroom. When you mount a small magnetic strip on the wall it becomes an instant catchall for items like tweezers, bobby pins, and nail clippers. Attach small magnets to the backside of slim cosmetics and stick them to the inside of your cabinet door.
3. Be Stealthy
When square footage is at a minimum, adding a clunky set of shelves or massive armoire probably isn’t in the cards. So get stealthy. In addition to ‘hidden’ storage behind your vanity mirror, look for other wall-mounted items that provide some extra shelves. For example, you might find a piece of art mounted on a slim cabinet. This allows you to add a splash of fun and functionality at the same time.
4. Capitalize on the Space Under Your Sink
Due to the shape of drainpipes, it’s incredibly easy to miss out on the storage under your sink. All too often folks shove items into the depths of these cabinets only to forget about them and turn the space into a black hole. Rather, look for expandable shelves designed to fit around your pipes – like this one from The Container Store!
5. Use Dividers
Drawers and shelves can quickly become disaster zones when you’re trying to stack multiple items all in one large space. By using dividers, you can create multiple small areas and give each item a home.
